Writing Experience

Commissioned to write "Let Freedom Ring" a Revolutionary War musical for the Liberty Museum.

Commissioned by the Walnut Street Theater to research and write three civil rights themed plays to be performed at Philadelphia area middle and high schools. "Freedom Riders" was produced in 2001 and published in Plays Magazine and by Encore Performance Publishing in 2002. "No Easy Road to Freedom" was performed in 2002 and published in Plays Magazine in 2003. "Martin and Malcolm: Freedom Then and Freedom Now" was produced in 2003 and published in the fall of 2004. Also author of "The Boy Who Cried Bully" for the Walnut Street Theater currently touring in local elementary schools dealing with the issue of bullying in schools. Commissioned to write "The Ugly 8th Grader: It's Not Easy Being Mean" for the 2007-2008 season, dealing with issues of acceptance and perceptions of middle school girls.

Congresslink.org- wrote lesson plan for web site dedicated to US Congress in October of 2002. Lesson plan gave students a hands-on method for exploring their own political beliefs and established a framework for an in-class presidential election.

Freelance author of short story and magazine feature articles. Most recently a travel article for Golf Week Magazine on Scottish links golf.
Awards and Fellowships
- Gilder/Lehrman Lincoln Scholar: selected from a national pool of applicants to attend seminar on Lincoln at Gettysburg at Gettysburg College taught by Gabor Boritt sponsored by the Gilder/Lehrman Institute of American History summer of 2001. Worked with other fellowship winners to create a lesson plan on Abraham Lincoln the politician.
- Dirksen Fellowship: chosen as a lead teacher by the Dirksen Congressional Center in Pekin, IL to write lesson plans and conduct teacher workshops for Congresslink.org, a web site designed to teach students about the US Congress. Workshop attended in summer of 2000.
- Dorothy Haas Acting Fellowship: chosen for year-long acting fellowship by the Walnut Street Theatre in Philadelphia during 1991 and 1992. Worked as an actor and a teacher for the Theatre.
Committees and Boards

US Department of Education Office of Innovation and Improvement Professional Development for Arts Educators Grant Review: (2005 and 2006) Served as a grant reviewer for the US Department of Education.
- National Blue Ribbon Committee: (2001-2002) Served on committee to prepare report for Central Bucks East's recognition as a Blue Ribbon National School of Excellence.
Leadership Positions
- PSEA Representative for Central Bucks East High School (1998-2002). Represented members in union issues with various school board officials.

Vice President of college fraternity Lambda Chi Alpha at Bucknell University. Led community outreach and philanthropic activities. Organized and put on a 5k run for charity raising $1500 for local food bank, as well as coordinated first Adopt a Highway Program in Pennsylvania.
